Approach Guides is a platform for building, designing, delivering and tracking multimedia “content experiences.” To increase impact and boost conversion, the platform employs advanced customization and personalization features that allow brands to engage guests in real time across all digital sales & marketing channels in B2B and B2C applications.

Getting started: the content portal

The content portal is where you and your team will search, sort, organize and share destination content with your guests. To begin, you will first have to log in.

Don’t have a login?

New users: Email your account administrator to get a login or get in touch with our content team.
Existing users: If you already have an account, you can reset your password.

Finding content

Finding the right content

First things first! Let’s find some content.

Searching for content

When you first login, you’ll see a single search bar, asking “Where to?” Simply type in your destination to get started. You can then use the selects on the left-hand side to filter the results to find just-the-right content for your guest.

Here’s the up-to-date list of our supported destinations. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, open a chat with our Content Team from within the content portal and we will prioritize it in our development queue.

Creating collections

Organizing content into collections

Collections allow you to select just the right content to delight your guests and segment that content to be shared with a specific guests, marketing campaign or channel.

Our platform uses a shopping cart system, so once you find a piece of content you want to share with your guests, start adding it to your content cart by clicking the “+” icon next to that content. Once you’re happy with your selections, then add all of that content to an existing or a brand new collection.

Tips for naming collections

Collection names automatically appear as the titles of your collection. To add an even greater level of personal touch, add your company’s or client’s name to the collection title. Here are some suggestions:

Sharing and customizing content with auto-generated landing pages

Easily share content with a custom landing page created just for you. It’s easy to share with guests via email, text or even in an itinerary. And the best part? It works right in the browser, so there’s nothing to download or install!

You can either use your default template or customize it further by clicking on the “Customize (Live Editor).”

Create a custom URL

Approach Guides makes it easy to create custom landing pages with the click of a button. By default, these pages are hosted on explore.approachguides.com, but you may want your guests and clients to see your own custom URL, eg. inspiration.yourcompany.com, explore.yourcompany.com, virtual.yourcompany.com.

Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Create a CNAME record

Login to your Domain Control Panel.
Go to the section which says DNS or Name Servers.
Create a new CNAME record with name/host/alias as your custom support URL pointing to value explore.approachguides.com.
TTL: Enter a Time To Live between 30 minutes to 1 hour, or leave this field in its default settings.
You may need to fill in these details:
- Alias Name: Enter the subdomain name for your alias. For example, if you want to use a custom URL like inspiration.yourcompany.com, enter ‘inspiration’ as your alias name
- Point to Host Name: Map the alias to your Approach Guides domain: explore.approachguides.com.
Save changes to your DNS records.

Step 2: Contact our content team

Email content.team@approachguides.com with the name of the custom URL you have created (for example: inspiration.yourcompany.com) and they will activate it.

That’s it! Once the custom URL goes live, all previous links will automatically redirect to the new URL, so everyone will see the new domain from now on.

Adding your own content

Add your own content to share with guests

In addition to Approach Guides’ curated content, our platform securely manages your in-house created content (YouTube videos, promotional brochures, packing lists) and any third-party content that you’d like to include (partner content, interviews with tour leaders, etc.).

To get started, simply click on the “Add Content” menu option and follow the guided entry. Our platform makes it easy by using publicly available information provided by the publisher to give you a head start in filling in the title and synopsis. You can also add your own images and add the content you’ve added right into a collection!

Editing your content

Your account

From the My Account section of our content portal, you can update your email address and change your password.

Add a personal logo (select accounts only)

All accounts are set up with a company logo, provided to us by your account administrator. This logo appears at the top of all content collections shared via our private-link feature. If you have permission to upload a personal logo and do so, it will appear in lieu of the corporate logo.

For administrators

The company logo

Please email our content team with a high-quality image (.png, .svg or .ai) of your logo. We will then upload it into your account profile. This is what your guests will see when any member of your organization uses the private-link feature to share a content collection.

Account permissions

You can set permissions and access on an individual-user basis, enabling centralization of control, heightened security and ultimately a better guest experience. Our team can discuss appropriate user-permission levels based on brand requirements.

Adding and deleting members

Contact our Content Team to add or delete user accounts. For each user account, we require three pieces of information: name, email address and account permissions level.

API

The Approach Guides API gives brands ultimate control over how content is displayed on a website, landing pages or mobile application.

Embed script

The Approach Guides Embed Script offers an easy, non-technical way for brands to display the content with no development work. Simply drop the script into your CMS where you’d like the content to appear — further, this is real-time link, so the displayed content updates automatically if changes are made to the linked collection in our content portal. Contact your account advisor for details on how to customize the script to your brand requirements.
